New Beginings

I am truly feeling yucky for being out of touch with you all for a whole week. My PR and "bestest" friend are huge motivators so to you dearest girls a big THANKS!

If you are a mom, you know the story of our lives so to say the least this year with Lilliputian Affairs has been fun and a delightful challenge figuring it all out; a real juggling act with the things I love is what I have committed to.

It has been interesting finding my way through the maze of building a successful business while trying to go back to the corporate work world. At last, I have come to the conclusion that all the signs along the way are real and I am finally getting it that I should stay on the path of my passion and not go back to work consulting even though it feels risky.

This summer I started out just making steps toward my passion by blogging something, talking about anything we are doing. Going forward you will see a definite direction toward fashion more and more each week. You will see food and fun but fashion for children and expecting moms will be prominent. So come to get inspired and enjoy!

Babies Rockin

Who says Lilliputians can't rock the runway? We are watching Murielle Maitre Cohen outstanding kids collection. Lilliputians are just little people who know what they like and don't. So if you have a not so dressy lilliputian, hears a thought for a "do your own thing kid" non-tradition Christmas gear.

Christmas Replay

I have a habit of shopping for Christmas ornaments not only at the after Christmas' sales but also during summer. Yeap! I am pretty excited about how remarkable they look on the tree at the end of the year. Adding to that excitement is I spent significantly less for a great decor. Now that we have a Lilliputian to add to our holiday cheer, we get to feature her custom photographic art ornaments on the tree from the previous year which is a delightful conversation piece from Christmas past. What I enjoy most about the tree now is it is another symbol of how much she has changed; her facial features, creative skill development, seasonal recognition, and even her vocabulary. Moreover, it’s intriguing to see how she notices from those photo ornaments how much she has changed and we get excited all over again. I know all those art projects from their school years can be overwhelming and sometimes cluttering, but it is so surreal to watch them  grow and change from season to season. I am making it a point to soak of the moments and keep them in my present even though tomorrow they will have passed.

Cozy Gifts

I recently discovered Toto Knits for hand knitted sweaters, hats, and other kids accessories. The other significance about this company is that it has a fair trade impact. I am such an advocate of humanitarian efforts in Africa for women so I thought you would also like to know how you could help influence the lives of other moms across the globe. Toto Knits has awesome items and notably impact the lives of other moms and their children in Kenya. During this season of giving, we are styling and loving around the globe.

Gifts for Thoughts

This week was designated for shopping. I found the most amazing shops with precious thoughtful items. My favorite was a pair of boxers for boys potty trained plus. Yes boxers, not briefs. This shop owner can even have them monogrammed. I enjoy passing on items like these for gifts. Parents are always wowed and want to know where to find more. New Traditions

I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving Holiday and ready to move into the Christmas Holiday spirit. This year we started a new tradition. We prepared a Thanksgiving brunch with breakfast sides and dinner entrees to make sure we could spend intimate family time at home and still have dinner with friends later that evening. The idea was exceptional. We had our cake and ate it to! I think this could work for Christmas with a little menu tweaking.

Season Layers

I am ecstatic about styling with amazing sweaters as the fall to winter season is slowly settling in. Layering little ones with cool sweaters and a top coat, can guarantee they won't get chills indoor or outdoors; keeping them comfortable and fabulous.

Fall Fun

As trees are in full color splash for a new season, it can be fun to go out with the kids and collect a rainbow of leaves. Great activities can be built around the leaves’ colors, shapes, and sizes. Also point out how an insect probably had a nice snack from leaves that have tiny holes. Creating treasure hunts with your child's favorite items like play jewelry and animals peaking from under a pile leaves will keep them excited about the changing season.

Styling Accessories

One of my favorite style tactics is accessorizing. It's easy to overlook this fashion piece for kids. Although finding the perfect clothes are definitely a must, to push it over the top, outstanding accessories will do the job. I found these really cool items that hit this upcoming season trend spot and they are practical as the cold weather is approaching. Your child will not lack style or fun with these additives.

You may think boys are more difficult to style with accessories; just check out these winter deals

Can girls get any cutier and cooler at the same time? Oh my goodness, it's possible!!! :)

Coveting Candles

My daughter totally adores parties. An invitation gets her so excited she wants me to sit down and help her write a response stating "I miss you so much". Her main concern on the way to the party is will SHE get to blow out the candles!!
If you have to constrain your little one from blowing out someone else’s candles at a birthday party, try explaining to your child why they are going and how special the host thinks he/she is to invite them to help celebrate the day the host was born; besides that, it would be unfair if someone else blows out their candles. Another idea is to light candles days before or all week to settle their urge to embarrass you : )

Sticker Shock

Favors are a big deal in my book. It is the host immediate offer of thanks and appreciation to guest for joining in the celebration and for bringing thoughtful gifts. I particularly prefer practical favors; not the bulk knickknacks that I have heard some moms describe as hazardous or clutter pieces. Whether you are on a strict budget or big budget, favors can always be thoughtful, practical and age appropriate.
My family attended a special birthday party and this mom gave away scratch and sniff stickers. Wow! I must have been in middle school since I've seen a scratch and sniff sticker. They are perfect and adorable! I am amazed at how much kids like stickers not to mention one that smells like lemons and strawberries. Keep in mind to make your favors thoughtful and fun no matter the budget.

Birthday Bears

Check out these cuties that attended a birthday spray ground party. They were the perfect accessory for the gift table. Using a child’s sentimental item in the décor can create a great sense of pride and involvement in the event.

Closet Closeouts

Summer is winding down and it’s time to start packing up those great summer outfits and pull out your fabulous fall finds you picked out 6 months ago on the clearance rack. If you missed shopping for winter this spring, no worries, it's still a good time to find some past season deals for the upcoming fall and winter. You may be limited on size options from this super clearance, but if your finds are a couple of sizes too big, keep in mind layering to keep warm takes up inches. You are also armed for those unpredictable growth spurts.

Summer Sweets

This summer has been filled with lots of fun and my family created great memories. I made the best effort to balance healthy meals and sweet treats. Berries were the best! Adding peanut butter to a wafer with only a sprinkle of organic powdered sugar for looks was a happy medium. I even found sugar cane sticks that worked great as stirrers for homemade floats.

Perfectly Pink

We were excited to interpret the vision of a pink party for a 3 year old princess. Truly a girly girl, everything pink is an understatement! Pink frizzles, laces and tulle only highlighted the excitement of all the other precious princess that arrived. It was such a pleasure to see little girls admire one another's tiaras and pretty dresses in their own Lilliput world.
